As title!
My range requirement is almost met but only 2 rooms. I want to change PC card to USB adpator. Does that help?

Possibly. The advantage of the USB adapter is more in its ability to be moved around, rather than its antenna. You can get a long USB cable and move the USB WLAN radio around the room until you get a good signal from the access point.

Using a USB adapter is a good idea for range usually. Some are much better than others. Using a long usb cable works only a few brands, others attenuates the signal (16 ft) for some reason. Brands very significantly. Another solution is a patch antenna for the PCI card with a 4 ft coax cable. You can then put it out and direct it towands the access point. Hope this helps.

Now for the down side...

A USB adapter can slow down your wireless clients. USB 1.1 tops out at 12Mbps. This works fine for 802.11b but you could see some degradation if your using 802.11g.

With that said has anyone seen a USB 2.0 wireless adapter?

Both D-Link and Buffalo have announced plans to ship USB2.0 802.11g products.
