I just set up a wireless lan in a building. I use Belkin 802.11b router and PC card. The range can not reach 4 walls. Actually it almost works for me except a few computers. Possible solutions may include the following options. I seek your experienced opions.

1. Add a range extender

I read some posts elsewhere saying that it's most probably not the problem of the router but the limitation of PC card. If this is correct, then adding a range extender should be meaningless since the PC card signal still can not reach router.

2. Change PC card to USB adator
Since I saw USB has outside attena, I guess maybe it will communicate with the router better.

3. Change to a different PC card.
I seek your experience in which wireless card can communicate with Belkin 802.11b router better.

Thank you very much for your possible reply.

Hmm, did you mean reach "through 4 walls"? A range extender?
Not sure what you mean by that.

Different/better antennas, or a an AP in repeator mode might be a solution.

Receiver sensitivity on the PC card is very key, Cisco has some of the best Cards on the market and will work with any 802.11b compliant devices.

I'd move the AP so that it's only going through 3 walls.

The Belken USB 802.11b adapters are better then their pcmcia cards.
