My wireless is no longer getting IP from DHCP.
My network is a little NON standard.
I have an SMC Barricade acting as the router/DHCP/ one wireless AP. I have an Orinoco RG-1000 in bridge mode on the other side of the house. Both are using same SSID and are on different channels. I was getting IP from the SMC thru the Orinoco when the Orinoco was hooked directly to to SMC.
I just put in a Linksys etherfast switch and can no longer get IP from the DHCP (SMC) . If the laptop associated to the Orinoco has a static IP it can get out to the internet.
Any suggestions on how to figure this one out? Assigning static IP's for the wireless isn't a long term solution. It'd also be a PITa to run cat 5 just for the AP (and a waste of a port)
Would it make a difference if I setup a DHCP server on a Linux box instead?
TIA
Gary
