I just got a Cisco Aironet 350 Wireless adapter (AIR-LMC352) and sucessfully installed it. It wasn't able to connect to my access point, but as soon as I connected an external antenna, it popped right up. The access point was in the same room as my laptop, so I don't think it should have had any problems.

According to the documentation on Cisco's website, the use of antennas with this model is optional but mine doesn't appear to work that way. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? I liked having the option of connecting antennas to help with connectivity problems, but I really don't want to be stuck with them attached to my card all the time.

I've tried using Cisco's utility with Windows 2000 Pro as well as Windows XPs Wireless Zero

by "antennas optional" Cisco means it's an optional purchase (as in "you have the option to get this antenna, or this antenna, etc..) You NEED to attach an antenna of some kind to the LMC352.

A few years ago they used to make a little clip on that would go on the LM and make it look like PCM, but they discontinued it.

Thanks for the help. I tried setting my laptop right next to the access point and was able to get a very weak signal. Looks like I'm going to be stuck with another card for everyday use or having to deal with the antennas all the time.
