WOw!

THIs place is great!

Ok- heres my deal:

Ive got a new Netgear MR814v2 and a SMC 2435W what have 100% link quality and ABYSSMAL signal strength (~ avg. zero)

Here are the details:
NEtgear MR 814v2
-128 WEP enabled
-SSID matches with card
-Channel 6
-SSID customized and corresponds in card & AP

When I ipconfig from the client, I can see my NAT assigned IP, the gateway, etc- but only for a short time before it drops.

I ran a ping -t on the inside address from the client and I got a 54% packet loss.

Basically, It looks like I have WAY TOO MUCH interference in the environment here in my home....

In the site survey, my AP is the only one can get a signal from, though I have a Siemens 2.4G phone that gives off a ton of interference (I can tell b/c my phone has had problems in the past from interference from neighbors and b/c the phone goes nuts when my wireless AP is activated)

I unplugged my phone for a short time, but still had the same problem. Unfortunately, there are several other 2.4G phones active in my neighboorhood b/c I can see them with my phone, so Im not sure I can avoid the interference issue.

Ive played with the channels, but to no avail.
Ch 1- no good
Ch 6- no good
Ch 11- no good

Any ideas, or should I give it up?.......

Would a better card, like a Orinoco, help?

TIA!!

The Siemens phone is the worst! I would recommend using a Cisco WLAN card. They have the strongest signal output and great receiver sensitivity. Much better than the Orinoco.
