I have a bunch of aparment buildings in a mid-sized city, all within less than two miles of each other. Most buildings in the area are 4 to 5 stories, which all of my buildings are as well, so line-of-site shouldn't be a problem if antennas are mounted on rooftop poles. I would like to set up a wi-fi network to all buildings so that employees at each building can connect to the network/internet through the wireless cards in their laptops, when making service calls. I'd also like to be able to access the network while driving around. With enough buildings, can I set up a wireless network?

What will I need?

Yes, you can install a Wi-Fi network to cover the areas you're refering to. Your first step is to conduct an RF site survey to determine the type, number, and placement of access points.

Thanks, Jim. Is that something I can do myself? What type of equipment do I need?
