I bought an iPaq 3765 off ebay about a month ago, it had a PC card sleeve, car charger and cradle for $200 shipped to my front door. Only problem the unit was not reliable at all.

It worked ok most of the if it was plugged into the wall. It had sporadic shut downs with the car charger, and constant shut downs with the PC card sleeve (the sleeve has its own battery) and no external power source. The unit never powered on without the sleeve, or sometype of external power source.

As you can imagine, I was thrilled with my new gadget. Actually I made the best of it, I did a site survey of my house with a really long extension cord.:D

I researched the 37xx and 36xx iPaq, and found they have battery problems. But the 37xx and 36xx batteries are not "user replaceable". I found a refurbish kit here (http://www.ipaqrepair.com/ipaqpartscenter.html), it comes with a new battery, 2 sytlus lock assemblies and LCD sealing tape. I had to order the 00 Phillips and T6 Torx driver separately for $6. The total shipped to socal was $79. The store is pretty good, they shipped on time and good communication etc... but the instructions that it came with left much to be desired. Little 3x3 b&w pictures that look more like static on a poorly tuned tv than anything else.

The repairs were not that bad, you just have to be gentle but firm when removing the case. The stylus lock assembly flew accross the room when I did it, which was kind of scary. The battery is taped on the back of the case and has a snap connector on the motherboard. The stylus lock is held into place by the board and the frame so no screws are needed, just set the new one in the divit.

The LCD sealing tape is not for the faint of heart. You have to pull the board out, unplug stuff, unscrew stuff, rotate things in specific directions.... Yeah. I stopped there. It is a pain in the neck just getting the board out. The sodder joints look flimsy, and the entire thing is about the size of a deck of cards.

I got it back together, and it powered on for the first time by itself.
I'm still a little nervous because it did act flaky 1 or 2 times plugged into the wall. But all in all everything looks ok.

Oh yeah, if you need to do this dont buy the 00 Phillips if you dont plan on doing the LCD tape. You only need this for removing the LCD. I would go to lowes and by the T6 Torx for like $0.99.
