Hi,

We have two sites, about 2km apart, line of sight. One site (the master) has wired internet access, the other (slave) has no network connection at present.

The slave site will soon be getting a couple of PCs which will need Internet access. Due to the nature of the building, putting Cat 5 in is not an option.

What we have an idea to do is to use an 802.11b bridge, with high-gain antennas at each end to link the two sites, then have a seperate AP at the slave end making a wireless link between the end of the bridge and the two computers (with wireless NICs).

So essentially we are wanting to plug a small AP into the back of one end of the wireless bridge.

Is this something that can be done? I know we'ld need to use different channels for the bridge and the local wLAN, but can you just plug an AP into a bridge, without some sort of router/gateway in between?

FYI we're thinking of SMC2682Ws with 14.5dB antennas for the bridge and probably a 3Com WAP2000 for the AP. We have plenty of static IP addresses to use.

Thanks in advance.
