I am using a belkin WNAP 802.11b which in theory should have a 600ft odd range. however it can barely muster 10 meters before the signal strength and quality drops by over 90%. after a quick trawl i discovered that some mobile devices are affected by mobile phones. now we have a mobile phone mast just over 100 meters away. would this account for our underperfomence? r should i let vodafone off the hook? and if it is the masts fault is there a way aroud it?

The 600 rated feet is under perfect lab conditions, meaning open line of sight. Every obstacle you add to the mix, walls, phones, microwaves (which operate in the same frequency range of b).

Also, in regards to the mobile phone antenna, it could be raising the noise floor, this would really limit the effective range of the wireless signal.

Good luck.
