Can I use WEP peer-to-peer?

I recently bought a pair of Orinoco Gold PC cards. I've got one setup in a Linux gateway box (via PCI adpater) and the other in a win2k laptop.

The good news is I got this setup working almost immediately in peer-to-peer mode with the Linux box routing to our main LAN. Unfortunately I am unable to obtain an IP address from my Linux gateway if I enable Encryption from my Orinoco Client Manager software.

Is there a limitation with peer-to-peer not being able to use WEP?

No you cannot. WEP incryption requires interaction betwwen an access point and a wireless card. It will not work in Ad-Hoc (Peer-to-Peer) mode.
