ok, i'm building a house this year, and want to setup a good network. i just bought a 614+ last week, and like it. it's a lot lighter than my 713P but it works good.
my question is, there are only 4 ports on the dlink, and i'm going to wire at least 8-10 rooms. wireless is there for my laptop and PDA, but i like hardwires for desktops. so is it possible to hook up a switch to the 614+ for extra ports, or better yet, hook the 614+ to another switch (maybe gigabit) where the switch will be primary, and the 614+ will be an access point? i read the manual but did not see anything.

That is a good question. I will be watching this to see if you get an answer.
If you don't then post the question again on http://www.broadbandreports/forum/dlink.com. The forum is used by several dlink support techs.
Again, I don't want to take anything away from 80211-planet but I have found a great wealth of information on broadbandreports and recommend the site.

deeznuts,
You should be able to connect a switch to the router, as long as the ports are crossed over, it shouldn't be a problem, I read the specs on the DI-614+ and it seems to have auto-configuration for each port. Are you using the DHCP server that comes with the 614+?

Yes, the ports on the DI-614+ are auto sensing, which means you don't need a crossover cable. Simply connect your switch(es) to any port(s) on the router with a standard Cat5 cable. You should be able to connect a switch to any other router as well. If the router ports aren't auto sensing you need a crossover cable or an uplink port on the router (which Linksys has on their routers).

sweet! thanks for the help guys. i was hoping it would work, and it looks as if it would work both ways (hooking the router up to another one with DHCP turned off).
