Hello,

I am trying to learn how D-Link is doing to increase the speed again. They claim that they have the 4X mode.

One person told me that they increase the throughput so the over the air speed is still up to 22Mbps using PBCC. With that on then the throughput is 3-4Mbps.

Now with the new 4X mode the throughput achieves 12Mbps with the same 22Mbps over the air.

Is it correct? What do you think?

Yes they do have the 4x mode for their AirPlus line utilizing the PBCC encoding on the 22Mbps bandwidth rating.

I get on average 10Mbps transfer speeds. I am usually about 50ft from my access point(DI-614+) I've heard other people getting better results with the 900AP+ as their access point simply because the 614+ has to think about the packets more because they are working on routing the info and the access point just shoots it down its one pipe.

I believe they (D-Link, well Ti) can do this by providing more efficent code/modulation thus providing more actual data throughput within the same bandwidth rating.

Some people are talking about 44Mbps bandwidth, but someone just made that up, they only use 22Mbps bandwidth with a special "4x mode."

Yes, with 4x you can get 12Mbps with 22, and short preamble.

How 4x works is priperitory info. Sorry 8^)
