Hello everyone, I just wanted to ask you a question about a situation I might find myself in very soon.

I currently have two LANS connected via Wireless-G Bridges. There is one Internet Cable connection on one lan, and the internet connection is distributed throught the entire network via the Router/DHCP server.

On Lan 1 is the internet connection, on Lan 2 are the file servers.

But there are times when it doesn't work, when someone picks up a 2.4Ghz phone, the internet connection on the 2nd LAN gets cut completely.

So to eliminate the hiccups in Internet Connection, I ordered another Cable intenet connection for Lan 2. But that means I have to have another router/DHCP server to route the internet to the computers on Lan 2. And I know that 2 DHCP can't co-exist on the same network with the same IP block.

So my question is how do I still give everyone access to the file servers, while everyone gets the internet connection from the respective LAN's?

Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly welcomed. Thanks!

Joe

It seems the problem you have is RF Interference between the wireless bridges and your cordless phone. From your posting I am assuming that you are using 802.11g wireless bridges. 802.11g operates in the 2.4GHz spectrum, the same as your cordless phone. 2.4GHz phones are known to have a very detrimental effect on 2.4GHz wireless LANs, and in some cases (which seems to be yours) shut them down. Some possible solutions would be:
-Set the bridges to a different channel than what they are on now (probably won't work though)
-Use different cordless phones, either 900MHz or 5GHz
-Replace the 802.11g bridges with 802.11a bridges, which operate in the 5GHz spectrum (of course this will cost money...)

You can justt simply disable the dhcp feature on the other router.
