Is there anyone looking for a flexible 802.11 MAC & Baseband for outdoor applications. Are there any protocol tweaks you would like to have for 802.11 to work better in outdoor applications.

It would be beneficial for outdoor 802.11 solutions to have the ability to automatically change channels if RF interference occurs on a particular band. Ideally, it would be good if DSSS systems (i.e., 802.11b) could deal better with the interference offered by FHSS systems.

one RF Modem does change channels, but i find out that it changes way too often!, resulting in outages, also changing channels automatically, will result in a chain reaction, i have experienced one link resulting in three links to go down due to this!

but for the throughput those old FHSS modems were really good!, but the imp thing is throughput i know.
