Hello guys,

I'm have trouble discovering my wireless network with one of the computers in my house. It's a mini laptop that I let everyone else in the house use ... so no one will muck up MINE, heheh. Recently a virus infected the mini laptop, I believe it was related to Win32/cryptor, however I ran Kaspersky and Malwarebytes and now it appears clean. The wireless no longer works, I think the virus screwed some settings up. My primary computer can discover the wireless network without incident. The mini can utilize LAN without incident but not wireless.

The tray icon occasionally says a network is in range, but when I click to find the network, it searches for a few moments and reports no networks are found. It also occasionally gets stuck in "Acquiring Wireless Network" in which my network appears to be discovered but is unable to connect, it reports IP addy issues. At the moment it is back in "unable to find network" mode.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

I have tried the following:

- Using "repair" function
- Manually adding network
- Reinstalling wireless driver
- Resetting BIOS
- Turning radio off/on
- Running WinSockXP

Have you tried installing the card in another, known working computer to see if the card still works?

It's an internal card.

Want to say thanks to all - but I have given up and reformatted the HD, restored factory settings. Works fine now, but boo-hoo for such drastic measures.
