I have pre ordered 2 Bullet M5's and a pair of GD58-22 grid antenna's for my own link. Currently I;m using 19 dbi grids and indoor Edimax AP's. They have served me well since I set them up without a glitch.

I use Ixia Qcheck for throughput testing and my current system use to net 18 to 19 Mbps actual throughput but because of tree growth, I figure? it has dropped to 11 Mbps and less of drippy days. So when the bullets arrive I plan to mount 1 antenna in a different location in front of any trees about 8 to 10 feet off the ground for a 700 foot link to a roof top location 40 38 feet up.

I can't wait to test the throughput claims I see on the website of 100 mbps actual tcp throughput. Will post results when I get them installed next month.

Would you believe that I have not received them yet!
My supplier says there held at the border for compliance or non compliance issues. The Canadian Gov won't let them in to the country until they are certified I guess.

I also ordered from Florida 2 nano station m5's to try out. Got them through ebay and the seller after 2 weeks sent an email about filling back orders as soon as possible.
One would think they had them in stock if they were in auction buy it now on ebay?

So for now I will wait for the coldest day "-6C right now " that's when they will show up!

I believe it, My buddy ordered a picostation and it took over 3 months for him to get it because of back order. But compliance issues? Thats a first.

I can't believe someone would list equipment that is out of stock on ebay as buy it now. But then again it is ebay and every place seems to be out of stock on Ubiquiti gear.

I'm no stranger to doing antenna work in the cold though. Just not much of a fan of it lol

well they arrived yesterday , last night it snowed almost 1 inch and is not going to melt off till late this afternoon. I will upgrade the firmware and play with them a bit in the house today if possible.
The pac 22 dbi grids I ordered both need to have the brackets bent off 90 degrees too about 110 in order too make room to connect the bullets directly to the feed horn. These do not have a short pigtail like the 2.4 Ghz models. 2 minute job.
Other news,, the ebay seller has not replied or contacted me about the nano stations. So I escalated to a claim through paypal. Total bummer. I see I can order right now in Province for the same cost.

Plugged them both in this morning at 1/2 power 50 feet apart between walls and a fridge . first run of Qcheck showed 60+ mbps . Cool can't wait to get them outside.

All set up I will take pictures when the snow and or rain stops.
at about 700 feet power set to 15 , where max is 25 . Qcheck averages out at 61 mbps peaks at 65 sometimes. Very impressed indeed. That's quite an improvement from 12mbps from my 2.4 Ghz link.
Tested with Jperf @ 20 streams it shows 90.3 mbps !

I only had time today to take a few photos (http://img692.imageshack.us/g/p1000276z.jpg/) from my end of the link.
The pole is about 13 feet above the ground. On the roof of the house you will notice a white tranzeo radio. About 4 feet above it is the other bullet m5
the link is almost exactly 700 feet, and so far working perfectly.
I have run two remote cameras from a Zoneminder (http://www.zoneminder.com/) box at 2 frames per second for 4 days now and have not noticed a glitch , that is besides the regular network use. 3 computers xbox and a tversity box.

Next I plan to order a pair of Nano station M5's (http://www.ubnt.com/products/nsm.php) that are suppose to be even faster.

Yes I'm quite impressed I can ftp 700 MB through the link in under 1.3 minutes 1 way. Where it takes just under 1.2 minutes for the same file on a wire through a switch.
